Shizhuyuan tungsten polymetallic mine was approved by the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry (the predecessor of State Bureau of Metallurgical Industry) in October 1977 for the construction of a 3,000-ton mining scale per day, and its construction was started in 1978. Due to the poor sales of tungsten, the construction was suspended in 1982. At present, the mine carries out small-scale production. Bismuth concentrate which is smelted here has brought a lot of economic benefits.

Its tungsten (WO3) reserves were proved to reach 705,000 tons with an average grade of 0.331%, molybdenum reserves 118,000 tons with an average grade of 0.056%, bismuth reserves 265,800 tons with an average grade of 0.124%, tin reserves 480,000 tons with an average grade of 0.165% and calcium fluoride reserves 45.42 million tons with an average grade of 21.35%. The associated reserves of other kinds of metals were also proved like beryllium, silver, gold, copper, sulfur, niobium and tantalum.
