CMGE Professional Forum kicks off

2023-05-23

On the afternoon of May 20, the CMGE Professional Forum hosted by the Palaeontological Society of China kicked off at Chenzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center.

The professional forum is an important activity during the 11th China (Hunan) International Mineral and Gem Expo. Its theme is “innovative and integrated development of museums”. The forum was held in both online and offline ways. 8 guests from famous comprehensive museums, natural museums, geological museums, palaeontological museums and others were invited to give speeches concerning the digital collection, integrated culture and tourism and other themes.

In recent years, museum has become a buzzword. The public’s demand for appreciation, participation and interaction at museums, coupled with the extensive application of information technology, have laid a solid foundation for the innovation and integrated development of museums.

According to Jia Yueming, vice president of Chinese Association of Natural Science Museums, museums display and reflect the current human awareness of science and the development of social science and technology. He noted that what museums should convey to the audience is the scientific spirit, attitude and method rather than make them shackled by science.

“The theme of this CMGE is very good, demonstrating lithium’s importance,” said Lu Jianhua, director of the Professional Committee of Paleontology and Fossils of the China View Stone Association, adding that museums can also display the relationships between minerals and gems, minerals and health, minerals and art, etc.
