Mingxing bridge is located in Fuyuan village, Yizhang county which crosses Leshui river from north to south. It is an ordinary bridge in nowadays, but a heroic defending war- Mingxing Bridge Defending War was happened there in Anti-Japanese War.

The Japanese enemies planed to take the line from Pingshi to Lianzhou in 1945. Mingxing bridge was an unavoidable place for the connection of the line. From January to April, 1945, the Japanese enemies attacked Mingxing bridge four times, but all failed. Those four blocking actions were called “Mingxing Bridge Defending War” in history.

The first blocking action was happened on January 12, 1945, 400 Japanese of Pingshi fired the south side of the bridge from Lashuping of upstream of Leshui river. Luo Liangming- Secretary of Lechang Working Committee and Chen Da- Chief of Liyuan Town ( now is Fuyuan village) led a team to fight against the enemies and successfully defeated them.

But the Japanese would not leave the matter at that. They organized 200 more soldiers than last time to attack the bridge in that February. They fired from the north side of the bridge in the second time and wanted to cross the bridge. But the anti-Japanese teams got to know their plan in advance, so they removed all the boards of the bridge and pulled all boats to the bank before the enemy’s move, which helped to stop the enemies forcefully.

Liyuanbao village was located in the south of the bridge. There was a slope which planted with pine trees was located in the south part of the bridge as well. The slope was with higher geographic position which was with more obvious advantages as well, so it was even harder for the enemies to take Liyuanbao village. Furthermore, Liyuan people fought the Japanese passionately by playing the best advantages of their conditions. They produced tens of pine tree cannons with some scrap metals. The Japanese who were attacked by the cannons were badly hurt even not died directly.

The cannons fired by Japanese were from the low geographic position, which were almost useless, so all Japanese morale were down and then escaped. More than 20 Japanese were killed in this was. Liyuan people well defended their homeland.

March 19 and April 23, 1945, the enemies who were defeated by Liyuan people attacked the bridge for two times, but both failed. So all 4 attacks were defeated by Liyuan people who contributed greatly to the victory of the Anti-Japanese War.
