Unified design, groups of new buildings, clear streets, green trees, prosperous industries, and etc. formed a beautiful image of Shuiwan village of Guidong county- “Hunan provincial new rural demonstration village”, so when reporters arrived there, they were fully enchanted by the beautiful sceneries.

It was introduced that Shuiwan village launched the new rural construction from January, 2013. Currently, there are 68 new buildings and 90 remould buildings with over 40,000square meters construction areas available in the village. At the meantime, 263 “hollow houses” were dismantled to build 120 store rooms with 1560square meters. 556meters long road surrounded the village, 200meters long footpath, 1500square meters harden backyards, rural reading room, one activity center, and one leisure square were also finished in the village. 

Only by improving production can the villages keep wealthy. Shuiwan village placed much more attention on the cultivation of special industries to improve the efficiency of agriculture, increase farmers’ income and enhance the delayed effects of new rural development. Currently, an industrial structure with the leading industries of seedling and ecological breeding has been formed in the village. 381families of the village joined in the seedling industry with over 1900mu areas. 2000yuan/ person more annual income can be obtained by the villagers with the rent of land transfer, dividends of industrial shares, service income, and etc. Furthermore, by well playing the location advantage that it is near the downtown of Guidong county, it took active actions to improve the development of rural inn industries. Till now, there are 12 star level rural inns available in the village.

By handling “light-up, greening, and purification” project, the village installed some street wind power and solar power street lamps in the main streets of the village, afforested 2700square meters public activity areas, finished 1000square meters building and greening work of the square, planted more than 10,000 trees (excluded plantlets), built 2 garbage dumps, installed 12 garbage bins, dismantled some irregular aged circuits, and finished the upgrading of 3000meters power grid and communication network. It also built a concentrated supply station of marsh gas to provide the clear energy for the villagers. The raw material base of the station is Xingtai livestock farm which is with the capacity of cultivating 10,000pigs.
