Zeng Zhongsheng

Zeng Zhongsheng (1900-1935), whose original name was Zeng Zhongsheng, was born in Zixing City of Hunan Province. In 1925, he was admitted by Huangpu Military Academy as one of the fourth students and joined the CPC at the end of that year. In June of the year 1926, he engaged in the Northern Expedition (1926-1927) as the Chief of the Organization Section in the General Command Headquarters of the 8th Troops belonging to the National Revolution Army. Sequentially, he held the posts of the Advisory-department chief of the Military Commission, the Commissar of the Central Military Commission, the Secretary of the Municipal Party committee in Nanjing, the Secretary of CPC Hubei-Henan-Anhui Special Committee, the political commissar of the Fourth Army of the Red Army and the chief of the staff of the Northwestern Military Committee. In August of the year 1935, he was murdered at the age of 35 by Zhang Guotao due to the fact that he opposed Zhang’s warlordism and separatism. In November of the year 1989, Zeng was listed by the Central Military Commission as an outstanding militarist. Among all the 36 militarists of the new China, he began his military career at the earliest time and also had the most military comments and works.
