Zhu Liangcai

Zhu Liangcai (1900-1989)was born in Rucheng County of Hunan Province. In 1925, he threw himself into the revolution work and joined the CPC 2 years later. Thereafter, he engaged in the Southern Hunan Uprising (1928), Jinggang Mountain Fighting and the Long March (1934-1936). During the Anti-Japanese War, he sequentially held the post of the political commissar in the Third Military Section of Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Military Region and director of its Political Department, the vice director of the Political Department and the director of the Political Department of Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Military Region. During the Liberation War, he worked as the vice political commissar and Director of the Politics Department in the Military and Political University of North China. After the establishment of PRC, he held the post of the Political Commissar of the North China Military Region and then Beijing Military Region. In 1955, he was conferred the Senior-General military title and awarded the first-rank Bayi Medal, the first-rank Independence and Freedom Medal and the first-rank Liberation Medal. In 1988, he was awarded the first-rank Red-star Honorary Medal. He was also a member of the first National Commission of the CPPCC and a delegate to the first NPC as well as a member of the Standing Committee of the NPC.
