Rucheng County is located in Southeast Chengzhou City, the junction of Hunan, Guangdong and Jiangxi Provinces.
Covering an area of 2,400.85 square kilometers, the county is hilly and mountainous. It has jurisdiction over 15 townships (3 minority townships), 8 towns (2 minority towns), and 309 villages. The county has a population of 361,000 from 104,413 households.
The time-honored county can be traced back to the year 358, the second year of Emperor Mu's reign in the Eastern Jin Dynasty when the county was set up.
