Dutou Ancient City Site witnesses the thousand-year history of Linwu County, and the Han and Jin tombs in Dutou represent its unique cultural resource.
There are many tomb clusters around the Dutou Ancient City Site, mainly distributed in Dutou, Nanfu and Baishi natural villages. From 2017 to 2022, a total of 21 tombs from the Han and Jin dynasties were found in Dutou and Baishi tomb areas.
The funerary objects in the Han and Jin tombs at Dutou have the cultural characteristics of the Central Plains Dynasty and certain local features. Typical pottery jars and model pottery houses from the Central Plains were unearthed in Baishi Tomb Area, as well as straight tube double series jars with Lingnan characteristics.
This shows that during the Eastern Han Dynasty, the funeral customs of the ancestors of the Dutou ancient city were strongly influenced by the Central Plains culture and Lingnan culture.
The funerary objects unearthed from the Han and Jin tombs at Dutou ancient city site are an important part of China’s cultural heritage. They not only serve as important witnesses to the history and culture of Linwu County, but also provide valuable information for studying the ancient economy, culture, society and funeral customs of Linwu County, as well as showing the unique cultural traditions of the ancestors of Linwu County.
