“Chenzhou Tong Dian” was published in Chenzhou on March 18. The volume is divided into four parts: classics, history, literature and collections, which brings together all kinds of existing documents in Chenzhou from the Tang Dynasty to the end of the Qing Dynasty.
Chenzhou has a long history and a rich cultural heritage. Hunan, Central Plains and Lingnan cultures meet here, and the cultures of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism are spread here.
The profound cultural accumulation has nurtured brilliant sages and left numerous documents and books.
However, due to historical changes and the passage of time, many of them have long been lost, and the rest are collected in different venues or by individuals privately, which causes great inconvenience for consultation and study.
Wei Chong, deputy director of the National Library of China and president of National Library of China Publishing House, said on the press conference of the publication that the book is a large-scale and comprehensive cultural project for literature sorting and publishing in the history of Chenzhou, which is of significant value in historical and cultural development, academic study, ideology and social sector. It’s an important cultural asset of Chenzhou and an integral part of the treasure of Chinese culture.
The compilation and publication of “Chenzhou Tong Dian” is a beneficial exploration and practice to strengthen the inheritance and development of local cultural heritage and to do a good job in the inheritance and development of excellent traditional Chinese culture. It has set a good example for how to utilize and develop cultural heritage while protecting it.
