It was learned from Guidong County of Chenzhou that its forest coverage increased from 78% to 82% after the effort made in tree planting and vegetation restoration for nearly 4 years.

About 628,000 mu forest areas were greatly damaged by the severe ice disaster occurring in 2008, which made Guidong's ecosystem suffer a lot. After the ice disaster, Guidong County Party Committee and Government paid highly attention to rehabilitation work of forest and worked out solutions of forest recovering through investigation and evaluation. It was based on the activity of “afforestation project, ecological Guidong” to reconvert farmland to forest and restore the vegetation. 136,000 mu artificial afforestation and 100,000 mu complementary planting were finished, and 500,000 mu hillsides were closed to facilitate the forest.

A new turn greening project was launched in Guidong after "Greening Activity of Urban and Rural". Till now, 1918 mu landscape forest around the central town, 1902 mu core scenery upgrading of Santaishan provincial forest park, more than 30 mu sinkholes, 133km gallery with high standard greening, 40km river system, 22 reservoir greening projects, 3.56 million square meters village greening, and 816000 square meters courtyard greening have been finished.
