It was learned that 2015 China (Rucheng) seminar for geothermal exploitation and utilization and construction of hot spring county was held in Rucheng county on June 5, 2015. China Mine Industry Association delivered the plaque of “hot spring county of China” to Rucheng county which became the first county of Hunan province won this title.

It was introduced that Chenzhou city has the largest hot spring group of Hunan province, covering 1/3 of Hunan province. It is a real “hot spring city of China”. Concerned for the hot spring resource of Rucheng county, it was famous as “first hot spring of south China” for its “high temperature, good quality, large flow, and big area”. Reshui town, Nuanshui town, Luyang town, Tuqiao town, Tianzhuang town, Sanjiangkou town and some other places of Rucheng county are with different hot spring resources. According to the exploration, it is with great potential for the development of Rucheng county’s geothermal hot spring resources which are up to 12,000 cubic meters/day.

By well utilizing the geothermal resources, Rucheng county placed great efforts on constructing “modern rural hot spring city”. It figured out the protection, development and utilization plan of hot spring resource, confirming 71 hot spring development projects with over 8 billion yuan investments. At the meantime, it hired the experts group of geothermal research from Tianjing University to form “comments on exploration of Rucheng county’s geothermal resources”. It carried out the exploration stage by stage. Till now, new district of the downtown, Yujialing, Hengrui of Reshui and some other geothermal anomalous areas were discovered in Rucheng county. 3 exploration targets as Huangdongkou of Sanjiangkou town were confirmed.

In order to upgrade the development and utilization of Rucheng county’s hot spring resources, it took active actions on the declaration of “hot spring county of China” and gained the supports from China Mine Industry Association. The experts assessment group followed the procedures as on-site investigation, data appraisal, experts’Q&A, on-site Q&A, and etc. to present comprehensive evaluation of Rucheng county’s hot spring resources, comprehensive benefits of development and utilization, resource management, protection effect, and etc. According to the evaluation, Rucheng county is with abundant hot spring resources; local government places great attention on the development and protection; local hot spring is with high temperature and some other unique characters; the radon contents are higher than 142eman which is seldom to see in the world and well meets the national standards of mineral water; and all other indexes meet the demands as well. In this January, Rucheng county was approved as “hot spring county of China”.
