Huaneng Hunan Guidong wind power plant

It was learned that the first batch turbines of the first wind power project of Guidong county- Huaneng Hunan Guidong wind power plant were combined to the grid on May 30, 2015, which indicated a new historical breakthroughs was reached by Guidong county and its wind power dream became true. It is also a significant milestone for Guidong county’s ecological construction.

In recent years, Guidong county strictly follow the concept of “strong ecological county” to improve the development of low-carbon and sustainable industries. Along with the first batch turbines of Huaneng Hunan Guidong wind power plant combined to the grid, Guidong county reached leap-type development on implementing sustainable strategy and promoting the adjustment of structure.

Huaneng Hunan Guidong wind power plant was located in the junction of Hankou town, Qiaotou town and Oujiang town where is the northeast of Guidong county. The altitude of the plant is from 1250meters to 1850meters. The project was covered with 800million yuan investment with the total installed capacity of 84MW. It was divided into two phases as first phase of Hankou wind power plant and second phase of Huangnihu wind plant which were approved in September 2013 and April 2014 respectively. Both two phases were constructed simultaneously. Hankou wind power plant project was installed with 24 turbines which were with the unit capacity of 2MW, accounting for 48MW. Huangnihu wind power plant project was installed with 18 turbines which were with the unit capacity of 2MW, accounting for 36MW. A 110KV booster station was newly built in the station. The project was launched in August 2014 and was estimated to be fully finished and placed to operation in the end of this July.

Once finished, over 163million kwh power can be generated by the plant, saving 55,000tons of coal annually, decreasing the emission of air pollutants as 1059tons of sulfur dioxide,13tons of carbon monoxide, 600tons of nitric oxide, and decreasing the emission of 17,500tons of ashes.

Huaneng Hunan Guidong wind power plant project is not only an effective supplement to Hunan energy supply, but is also helpful to ease the pressure of environmental protection for Hunan electricity industry, promote local economy’s sustainable development, and upgrade the project’s social effects. Currently, 3 turbines have been combined to grid on May 30, 2015.
