It was reported that a special symposium concerned about the study of development of karst groundwater & opening ceremony for the celebration of 60th anniversary of Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences was held in Chenzhou city recently. Over 200 experts gathered together to share their achievements and ideas on the study of karst hydrogeology and environment geology.

It was learned that the special symposium was mainly on sharing the experience on development and karst groundwater, anti-drought, karst hydrogeological investigation, and relative achievements, including distribution and features of karst groundwater, climate change and karst drought, development of karst groundwater and poverty alleviation, drinking water safety issue in karst areas, pollution of karst groundwater, development and protection of karst ground water, development and protection of Wanhuayan underground water, and etc. It was aimed to solve the problems on hydrogeology and environment geology suffered by karst areas.

It is significant to solve the problems on drought, karst rocky desertification, pollution of underground water, and etc. suffered by Chenzhou city.

Zhang Aiguo- Member of Chenzhou Municipal Party Committee Standing Committee and Deputy Mayor of Chenzhou City, and Zhang Fawang- Secretary of Party Committee and First Deputy Director of Karst Geology Institute of Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences attended the opening ceremony.
