Large Fluorite Mine Found in Yizhang

2017-09-15

Recently, the "Verification report on fluorite mine and metal deposit in Jiepailing mining area of Yizhang County Hunan Province" showed that the mining area holds fluorite minerals of more than 12.90 million tons and tin metal of nearly 90,000 tons at present. The report was approved by experts at the Hunan Mineral Resources Assessment Centre.

Jiepailing Fluorite mine is located in the southwest of Yaogangxian polymetallic orefield, which is an important part of Nanling polymetallic metallogenic belt. The mine survey began in the middle of 90s of last century, and submitted a geological survey report in 1998.

In 2010, the mining enterprises commissioned the Xiangnan Institute to carry out the detailed geological investigation in the mine, but the mineral exploration infrastructure was difficult because of the complicated hydrogeological conditions and engineering geological conditions; there were many concealed ore bodies in the area, which were deep buried, complicated in shape, and difficult in the comparison connection of ore bodies. After more than 6000 meters of drilling, verification and control, the geological background, ore controlling factors, types of ore deposits, continuity of ore bodies, technical properties of ore processing and technical conditions for ore mining were found out. In 2013, the mine verification report was submitted, adding 2.7 million tons of fluorite minerals and 87 thousand tons of tin metal.

In 2015, the mine commissioned the Xiangnan Institute to carry out supplementary prospecting work in the mining area again, drilling about 1500 meters and funding 2.4 million yuan and the great breakthroughs have been made in mineral prospecting again. The amount of fluorite minerals increased by 2.4 million tons on the basis of 2013, and the total quantity of fluorite minerals in the mining area exceeded 10 million, to provide adequate resources for the fluorine chemical industry in Chenzhou.
