The stunning view of Dongjiang Lake enveloped in morning mist first appeared this year on April 9.

The mist of Dongjiang Lake is formed due to its unique geographical conditions. There is a temperature difference between the cold water (8-10℃ throughout the year) flowing out from the bottom of the Dongjiang Dam at a depth of 100 meters and the air temperature. Especially in the early morning and evening of summer and autumn, the water vapor evaporates into mist, stretching for 12 kilometers on the lake surface.
The first mist is due to the strong contrast between the recent warm weather and the low temperature of the lake water, providing a visual feast for photography enthusiasts and tourists.
Tourists can view the morning mist from 6:00 am to 9:00 am until October, with the thickest mist from June to September.
They can watch a fisherman casting a net at platforms 1-2, 2-3, and 3-4 of the Xiaodongjiang Plank Road. There is also a Hanfu show on platforms 2-3.
Self-driving is not allowed in the scenic area. Tourists can take tour buses in the scenic area and get off at all platforms for sightseeing.
