2011-04-22

Chenzhou is the south gate of Hunan province. It possessed the name of "North-south thoroughfare" since ancient time and it has important strategic status till now. Since "The Eleventh-Five-Year-Plan", under the support of municipal government, the transport system thoroughly applies concept of "Scientific Outlook on Development", conquering the low temperature of the extreme freezing rain and snow weather in 2008, overcoming the international financial crisis influence and over fulfilling planning investment task. The traffic in Chenzhou becomes the most prominent mark of comprehensive strength ascension and the most favored moral project.

Great-leap-forward development lies in the construction of highways. Xiarong, Hengwu, Yifeng and Yueru Highways are completed in five years with a mileage of 470.76 kilometers. The highways under construction or in use reach 572.76 kilometers. The whole city will realize highways in every county and 30 minutes to get access to highways, forming 30 minutes and an hour traffic and economic circle. Chenzhou has ushered in the age of highway.

The traffic development in rural areas becomes the spotlight. The newly constructed roads in the country are 10126 kilometers. 1099.382-kilometer connects the counties and the country, 7180.485 kilometers and 1846.3 kilometers for unobstructed projects in the countryside respectively. The newly-built cement roads reach 55 villages and towns and 1833 organizational system villages. After these projects are built, all organizational system villages that have a requirement will have roads in all the towns and 90.86% will have cement roads, 100% towns and 85.9% villages will have buses. The traffic in the country becomes the most favored moral project and the symbolic project in the new rural communities' construction.

Historic breakthrough in the network has been reconstructed. The mileage of arterial highway constructed reaches 330 kilometers which is two times more than that of "The Tenth-Five-Year Plan" and the mileage of arterial highway under construction is 328.492 kilometers. By the end of 2010, the total mileage will be 11773.93 kilometers, the newly-built roads reach 4925 kilometers, classified highways will rise by 277% and the highway density will rise to 61km / 100 square kilometers compared with 3572 Km / 100 square kilometers as proposed  in "The Tenth-Five-Year Plan".

Great progress has been made in transportation security. Two bus terminals above the secondary level and 44 bus stations are built in five years. In the end of 2010, buses and ships for business will reach 4,880,000 and the volume of freight reaches 1,990,000 tons which rises by 185% and 10% respectively. The newly-built passenger transport roads are 1837 lines. The passengers and goods turn-over quantity rise by 0.2% and 12.5% and that of passenger and goods on water rises by respectively 30.37% and 16.5%. The traffic in the city basically meets the needs of people from the city and town.
