Recently, after the zinc ore imported from Nigeria by Hunan Zhixing Import & Export Trading Company arrived at the railway station of Chenzhou Land Port, Chenzhou Customs completed the inspection before release within 24 hours.
It’s the first time that Chenzhou Land Port has launched a new model of Nigeria-Chenzhou sea-rail intermodal transport service through bill of lading. It’s also the first sea-rail intermodal import through bill of lading business in Hunan province.
Previously, imported mineral products from coastal ports such as Nansha Port in Guangzhou had to go through customs clearance at the port, and then be reloaded and transported to Chenzhou after inspection. The entire process was cumbersome, inefficient, and costly.
The railway, port, and ship are now interconnected, and the terminal function is moved to Chenzhou Land Port. Enterprises only need to provide a multimodal transport document with property rights certificate to complete all procedures for imported products at Chenzhou Land Port, and clear customs within 24 hours. This
helps enterprises optimize supply chain costs and improve logistics efficiency.
In recent years, the government of Beihu District has made the best of development opportunities of jointly building the Belt & Road Initiative to promote the economic development of Chenzhou Land Port.
Chenzhou Land Port has obtained the international port code for Chenzhou Port, and has opened multiple open logistics channels such as Chenzhou-Changsha-Europe international express, Hunan-Guangdong-Africa rail-sea intermodal express, and Hunan-Guangdong-Hong Kong Single E-lock Scheme.
It has added four new trade routes to Africa from Apapa Port and Ona Port in Nigeria, Mombasa Port in Kenya, and Dar es Salaam Port in Tanzania via Nansha to Chenzhou.
These help enterprises achieve a 40% speed increase in imported goods, a 30% speed increase in exported goods, and a 30% reduction in logistics costs.
From January to July, 5,186 TEUs were shipped through Chenzhou-Hunan-Guangdong-Africa rail-sea intermodal transportation, a year-on-year increase of 14%, and 771,000 consignments of goods were cleared at the International Express Center, a year-on-year increase of 436%.
