It was learned from Hunan Kunqu Opera Troupe that Cao Wenqiang and Shi Feifei who are the troupe’s young performers won golden award in the contest of Hunan young and middle-aged traditional opera performers on selected scenes and new operetta.

It was introduced that 88 operas (69 of them were selected scenes and rest were new operetta) were submitted to attend this contest from 13 cities of Hunan province and 4 Hunan provincial level art departments. Xiang opera, Huagu opera, Baling opera, Jinghe opera, Han opera, Huadeng opera, chenhe high cavity, Xiaoyang opera, Xiaomiao opera and some other local traditional opera were presented in this contest. 36 selected scenes and 7 new operettas won the title to enter finals. After three days intense competition of finals, Cao Wenqiang and Cao Feifei played a classic selected scene of Kunqu opera in the second round and won the golden award for their excellent performance.

It was purposely to promote the cultivation of young and middle-aged traditional opera performers and creation of new opera programs by handling such contest of 2013 Hunan young and middle-aged traditional opera performers on selected scenes and new operetta. Luo Yan- Head of Hunan Kunqu Opera Troupe stated that in order to make sound preparation of this contest, famous opera star- Shi Xiaoliang was invited to teach the performers. Such great achievement reached by these two young performers highly showed the powerful reserve force of Hunan Kunqu opera.
