Recently, the award presentation ceremony of the 5th Chinese Calligraphy Lanting Award was held in Shaoxing city, Zhejiang province. He Zongguo- a young calligrapher from Chenzhou city won the 3rd prize of excellent works. It was the first time for Chenzhou city to win this award as well as for Hunan province.

Chinese Calligraphy Lanting Award is a national comprehensive calligraphy’s professional award which is approved by the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the CPC and co-sponsored by China Literary Federation and Chinese Calligraphers Association. It is the top level award for Chinese calligraphy art. Four awards as lifetime achievement award, arts award, theory award and excellent works award were set for this Lanting Award. 198 works were selected from the 5198 works submitted by the qualified participants for final exhibition. 5 works, 10 works and 15 works were awarded with first, second and third prizes accordingly. 2 participants from Hunan province won the prizes (one was for calligraphy and the other was for seal cutting).
