It was learned from the principals’ symposium of the units of Hunan national level martyr memorial facilities that Yizhang Martyr Cemetery was approved to be “national level martyr memorial facilities” by the State Council.
It was introduced that Yizhang Martyr Cemetery which was launched in September1966 and finished in April 1967 consists of “one park and four zones” and covers over 300mu lands. In 1988, it was enrolled into the list of “Hunan provincial key martyr memorial units”. In 2012, 30million yuan was placed on its reconstruction and upgrading work. Once this top 10 well-being projects of Yizhang county finished in April 2014, the areas of the park was expanded to be 440mu. Li Guoli who is the Minister of Civil Affairs Ministry, Gong Puguang who is the Deputy Minister of Civil Affairs Ministry, and some other leaders visited the park and attended some memorial events during last years.
Yizhang county started the application work in 2014 and was finally approved to be national level martyr memorial facilities on this August 14. The decision was released publicly on September 6, 2016 by Civil Affairs Ministry.
It was learned that over 3700 people from Yizhang county joined in the Red Army, 1888 of whom were ratified as martyrs. Deng Zhongxia, Hu Shaohai, Chen Dongri, and some other revolutionary martyrs were from Yizhang county.
