4.1618 million people insured serious illness insurance

It was learned that Mr. Xiao-a farmer from Sili village, Guiyang county, suffered from serious brain illness spent over 630,000yuan for one-year treatment in Guangzhou city. Followed the policies of basic medical care of new rural cooperative medical system and serious illness insurance, Xiao was granted with the maximum reimbursement of 120,000yuan and 300,000yuan respectively, accounting for 70% of his total expenses. This was the largest amount paid by serious illness insurance of Chenzhou city.

It was learned from Chenzhou Finance Bureau that 9980 patients have settled the insurance compensation issues with an amount of 45.86 million yuan, covering 2.4‰ of the insured people and 75.05% of the gross premium.

Chenzhou city launched the serious illness insurance pilot work in Hunan province firstly on July 1, 2013. All the citizen insured new rural cooperative medical system, the medical insurance for urban residents, and medical insurance for urban and rural residents were qualified to insure serious illness insurance with relative policies. The minimum premium for the serious illness insurance of new rural cooperative medical system, the medical insurance for urban residents, and medical insurance for urban and rural residents were 7410yuan, 11,535yuan and 20,016yuan respectively. The compensation for serious illness insurance was confirmed on the basis of the qualified hospitalization costs beyond the minimum premium. According to the policy, the minimum and maximum compensation rates are 50% and 70% separately, and the maximum annual compensation amount for individual is 300,000yuan.

At the meantime, 22 illnesses for the self-pay part of new rural cooperative medical system but meet the serious illness insurance standard are capable to apply more drugs reimbursement. Songo fever’s qualified drug costs are covered into the reimbursement range on the basis of 20 illnesses for self-pay part of the medical insurance for urban residents and medical insurance for urban and rural residents but meet the serious illness insurance standard.

According to the data, 4.1618 million people insured the serious illness insurance, accounting for 82.2% of Chenzhou city’s total population. 3.3714million people are for the ones of new rural cooperative medical system, 310,800 people are for the ones of medical insurance for urban residents and 479,500 people are for the ones of medical insurance for urban and rural residents. The total amount of serious illness insurance’s premium was over 83.23million yuan.
