At the distribution site, grain growers were busy transporting bags of rice seeds onto trucks. As a major rice planting town in Guiyang county, Heye town has applied for 8,640 kg of rice seeds this year, with an expected planting area of 3,456 mu (230.4 hectares). 

 

Tan Fang, an early rice grower in Shuibian village of Heye town, said: “this year, we have planted over 1,000 mu (66.67 hectares), and received over 2,500 kg of rice seeds from the local government. If we purchase seeds, we have to spend about 150 to 160 yuan for one mu (0.067 hectares) of land. The distributed seeds can save us 150,000 to 160,000 yuan. The strong support of the government gives us more confidence in engaging in agricultural production.”

 

 

This year, the county agriculture and rural bureau has provided 125,000 kg of high-quality rice seeds based on the planting conditions and needs of each township, with 11 varieties of high-quality rice hybrids, which can lay a solid foundation for grain harvest and improve grain yield and quality.

 

Next, the bureau will organize professional technicians to provide technical services for early rice production in the whole county, and do the following tracking and management work well, to fully ensure the early rice planting on the farmland of 66,000 mu (4,400 hectares) in the county.
