What is “two-base work”?

It is planning to make nine-year compulsory education basically universal and to eliminate illiteracy by and large among young and middle-aged adults.

It was learned that Guidong county was listed into the file of“notice for awarding national advance areas on “two –base work” issued by the State Council. In Hunan province, there were only three counties awarded with this prize, namely Guidong county in Chenzhou city, Liling city in Zhuzhou city, and Shaodong county in Shaoyang city.

The total amount of 75.95 million yuan were invested to the 34 qualified school constructions, which enable the county to fulfill the task of installing all the middle schools, central primary schools and 9 year compulsory schools with qualified school buildings. Meanwhile, 27292 square meters D level dangerous school buildings were pulled down and 46420 square meters new or rebuilt school buildings were finished, which enabled the whole county with no dangerous school buildings. What’s more, 32 million yuan were invested to the 100 distance education stations which cover the whole county. With this 100% coverage of distance education, all the classes were provided with network or distance education, and all the schools realized the electronization of education administration affairs. It greatly helped the mountainous children compete with the urban children under the same condition and ensured the mountainous children good quality education.
