International College Chinese Debating Competition Settled down in Chenzhou City

The press conference of“Qiantong Cup” 2014 International Undergraduate Chinese Debating Competition

 

It was learned from the press conference of China (Chenzhou)“Qiantong Cup”2014 International Undergraduate Chinese Debating Competition that the competition would be opened in Omega Hotel of Chenzhou city on July 13, 2014. That was the first international Chinese debating competition settled down in Chenzhou city.

 

It was learned that this competition was sponsored by Xiangnan University, planned by Dongguan Oude Investment Co., Ltd., and supported by Hunan Xiasheng Industrial Co., Ltd., Hunan Detai Architectural Engineering Co., Ltd., and Chenzhou Qiantong Real Estate Co., Ltd.

 

The theme of this completion was “Chinese culture- city development”. 16 international colleges’ debating delegations from 12 cities of 4 countries were invited to attend this completion. This competition would last for 5 days from July 14 to 18, 2014. Its competition system was similar as World Cup that the 16teams would be divided to 4 groups to handle the round-robin in group, then 8 winners from the groups would be proceeded to knockout. 32 debates including 24 preliminary contests, 4 quarter-finals, 2 semi-finals and 1 final would be handled in the 5 days.

 

Cui Jiacong who is a junior student from Hong Kong Baptist University is the initiator of this competition. He won many international debating competitions before. As emphasized on the press conference, the significant for this competition was to carry forward the traditional Chinese cultures which were ignored by people on the process of development and stimulate people’s passion to learn more traditional cultures.

 

It was stated by Xiangnan University- the sponsor of the competition that it was purposely to promote the communication among the universities in domestic and abroad, popularize Chenzhou city’s fame worldwide and carry forward traditional Chinese cultures.
