General Situation of Chenzhou Sports

Sports are an important part of advanced socialistic culture. It is crucial to the health of the people. From 1989 to 2005, Chenzhou groped its way for the better development of sports, especially during the 10 years after the founding of the city (Chenzhou was a county before 1994) numerous achievements were made. The development of Chenzhou sports can be summarized as follows:
Institution is being gradually improved. People's awareness and social status of sports has been enhanced a lot.
Government highlights the idea of serving the people. The mass sports have made great achievements and rank among the best of Hunan province.
Physical education is gaining greater importance among schools.
Numerous efforts are made by the government and growing number of athletes have started winning several medals in competitive sports.
Sports industry needs to be strengthened. In order to get more achievements in the future, Chenzhou has to develop sites and facilities and enforce sports with the same standard as that of a modernized city.
