The 2024 Hunan Youth Swimming Championship kicked off at the Chenzhou Swimming and Diving Center in Beihu District of Chenzhou City on August 20. Over 1,000 young swimmers across the province will compete in the five-day event.
The swimming championship will last until August 24, and will be divided into 14 groups based on the age of the participants. The event covers freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly stroke, and medley stroke. The synchronized swimming championship will be held from August 28 to 29.
The championship will adopt the Omega automatic timing and scoring system, which is the designated timing system for top tier events such as FINA. It can automatically record athletes’ take-off and wall touching time by integrating touch panels, take-off sensors, and other devices. With its precise timing ability, it ensures the accuracy of each race result and reduces human error.
In recent years, Beihu District has successively launched large-scale events such as the National Men’s Water Polo League, National Camping Conference, National Paddleboard Yoga Water Sports Elite Exchange Competition, and National Tourism City Orienteering Series. According to incomplete statistics, over a hundred sports competitions and events of various levels and types are held in Beihu District every year, with more than 200,000 participants, which can directly and indirectly drive related economic benefits of 150 million yuan.
