Keeping public transportation priority to establish public transportation city

It was reported that Qu Hai- Deputy Secretary of Chenzhou Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Chenzhou City carried out a special investigation for the public transportation work of Chenzhou urban area. Qu stated that the public transportation priority should be kept to establish public transportation city, which was purposely to provide a safe, convenient, green and high quality public transportation service for the masses.

Qu Hai and his investigation team visited Sipuzhuang public transit hub, Suoshiqiao public transit hub, Xianling maintenance field, and some other places on their trip. They learned details of the construction condition of the projects. Along with the rapid public transportation development, 83 lines of public bus lines were available in Chenzhou urban city, sharing 24.6% of the transportation work. According to the data, 14 standard public buses were available for every ten thousand people to handle the daily passenger volume of 0.5 million. 0.329 million public bus cards were issued to public. The automatic station broadcasting, GPS supervision, and intelligent scheduling were facilitated to the public bus system. From 2009, 338 more standard public buses followed national III emission and above level standard and 200 clean energy public buses were available in Chenzhou city. In 2013, Suoshiqiao and other 5 public bus transit hub covering 200 million investment were launched as a part of the city infrastructure projects.

A symposium was held after Qu and his investigation team finished their on-site visit. Some principals of relative sub-ordinate departments presented their comments and suggestions on some problems listed by the masses and the continuous development of public transportation industry.

Qu Hai points out that the concept of“public transport priority” should be enhanced to keep the priority for development, capital and policy support and transit of public transportation. More scientific planning with rational layout should be figured out to grant the masses with more convenient and faster public transportation condition, especially on the planning of public bus stops (fields) and lines. Upgrading of infrastructure construction should be promoted, while the drivers’ training should be improved as well. Reform and innovation should be placed on improvement of management to decrease the operation cost with higher level team and sound enterprise culture. Market mechanism should be introduced into this industry with more innovations. More supports should be placed on the public transportation development to establish a public transportation city with safe, convenient, green and high quality public transportation service. Further safety administration should be carried out by relative departments to grant smooth and convenient public transportation condition to the masses.
