It was learned from Guidong Housing and Construction Bureau that Shatian town was enrolled in the list of national key towns on “notice for the list of national key towns” issued by the State Housing and Construction of Urban and Rural Areas and some other ministries.

Shatian town was located in the junction of Hunan and Jiangxi province where is adjacent to Shangyou county and Chongyi county of Jiangxi province and Rucheng county of Hunan province. It is the south gate of Guidong county. The total area of Shatian town is 109.22 square meters. It governs 15 villages, 2 residents committees, 169 villagers’ groups, covering 30,600 population. The downtown of Shatian town covers 7.5 square kilometers planning areas, 2.3 square kilometers of which has been finished. 20,100 inhabitants are available for this town. Because of its historic and cultural features, many merchants were gathered here. As a Hunan provincial level demonstration town, it is famous as “one of the six towns of Hunan province”. Shatian town is also a red land that the older generation proletarian revolutionists as Mao Zedong, Zhu De and Chen Yi carried out their revolutionary activities there. On April 3, 1928, the First Army Regulations “three disciplines and six points for attention” which was improved to be “three disciplines and eight points for attention” later was issued by Mao Zedong in Shatian town. 106 national road and Yueru expressway were past by from the town and entrances & exits were set in the town as well, which enabled Shatian town to be with more significant location, culture and transportation advantages.

Shatian town was enrolled as the third batch of Hunan provincial demonstration town and Chenzhou city’s “twelfth five-year plan” demonstration town in 2012. In recent two years, over 75million yuan was placed by the town to fulfill some projects as town planning, transformation of vertical faces, upgrading and reconstruction of roads, Shatian section of 106 national road and tourism roads, and etc., which helped to upgrade the image of the town and its level. Furthermore, over 6million yuan was placed on some agricultural comprehensive development projects in Wenchang, Longtou, Jingkou and other villages. All were approved by Hunan provincial and Chenzhou municipal agricultural development offices. It greatly helped to improve its infrastructure condition. Public bus station, the second phase of military regulation square, upgrading project of the entrance and exit of expressway, and other projects were placed to construction on July 1, 2014.

It was introduced that national key towns were the key points and leading points for the construction of small towns. Relative ministries of the State would carry out the work to figure out the guides to enhance the construction of small towns and establish dynamic adjustment mechanism for the national key towns. It was purposely to guide and support the development of small town construction and improve it to be demonstration construction of small towns which can help to undertake industrial transfer, easy the pressure of city and support the development of rural area as well.
