On September 6, 2012, the awarding ceremony for Guidong Bamian Mountain as Hunan provincial geological park was held on Santaishan square, Guidong county, Chenzhou city. It was one part of Guidong sub-venue activities of 2012 Hunan international tourism festival and the 2nd Chenzhou international leisure tourism festival. The awarding ceremony indicates that the county’s geological resource protection and utilization have higher standards and the tourism quality improvement also has got another new business card. Principals of Hunan land and resources office, experts from Hunan geology environmental monitoring station, principals of Chenzhou land and resource bureau, and some Guidong county leaders attended this awarding ceremony.

In the awarding ceremony, Chief and Deputy Chief of geological environment department of Hunan land and resource office- Tao Ji and Chen Yihua delivered their speeches. Both of them congratulated that Bamian Mountain was successfully awarded as Hunan provincial geological park. They hoped Guidong county can seize the gold chance to have the ecological park construction and management improved and more geological tourism resources discovered in order to build Bamian Mountain as the first-rate geological park, being the cultural tourism destination with mountain climbing, cave exploring, glacier expedition, eco-resort, and red humanity as a whole.

Huang Zhengrong- Deputy Secretary of Guidong County Party Committee and Acting County Chief of Guicong county remarked that it was significant to tourism development and image upgrading for Guidong county by awarding Bamianshan park the title of a provincial geological park. Guidong county would seize the chance to improve the park to be a famous scenic spot with the value of scientific research, education and tourism, and make the best use of the park’s social, ecological and economical influence for the promotion of faster and better economic and social development. Zhou guodong- Member of Guidong County Party Committee Standing Committee and Deputy Chief of Guicong county hosted the ceremony.

It was learned that Bamian Mountain geological park was approved to be a provincial geological park with the highest score in 2010, the exclusive one among other Chenzhou parks. Bamian Mountain geological park mainly featured with various sceneries of granite land, clasolite land, karst land, quatemary glacier land. Combined with some other natural ecological and human cultural resources, Bamian Mountain geological park now becomes a comprehensive geological park, which covers 153.1 square meters of three landscapes like Bamian Mountain, Qiyuan Mountain and Santai Mountain.

In recent years, following the idea of“protecting geological heritages and promoting the continuing development of society”, and the principal of “development under protection, and protection in developing, Guidong county paid high attention to creating a characteristic culture on the basis of geological heritage features. In 2011, Santaishan landscape of Bamian Mountain geological park was evaluated as “national AAAA tourism landscape”.

Leaders from Guidong county government departments, villages and towns were presented at the opening ceremony.
