It was learned from Guidong County that due to its good quality, fame and local features, “Linglong tea” of Guidong County successfully passed the examination of AQSIQ experts and got access to national geographical indication protection product.

National geographical indication protection product is approved and named under geographical name product, which is produced in specific areas and with the quality, fame and features depended on local natural and cultural factors. The protection area for Guidong “Linglong tea” geographical indication protection product was defined in Guidong County with an area of 1453 square kilometers. The approval of “Linglong tea” national geographical indication protection product confirmed that the original place, cultivation method, stir-frying engineering, and quality features of “ Linglong tea” were approved officially by national authority and would be protected under national laws. In another word, only the tea produced in the defined areas of Guidong County can be called as “Linglong tea” while tea from other areas can’t be advertised and sold with the name of “Linglong tea”, which greatly helped to provide the quality guarantee for the promotion of “Linglong tea”.

Since 2010, a special fund collected with 10 million yuan has been used for supporting “Linglong tea” industry every year. Now 60000 mu tea garden was finished and equipped with the most advanced and biggest scale of Linglong tea production lines in Hunan province. 800 tons refined green tea with total gross value of 120 million yuan was yielded out from this production line.
