2012 forum of urban construction and green habitation was successfully held in Chenzhou on November 7, 2012. Many urban city constructers, administrators, and planning experts nationwide had a deep discussion on emerging topics like how to adapt to the tide of urbanization, how to build an urban city, how to run a city, etc.. Yang Shen- former Minister of Construction Ministry, and Zhang Chengcheng- member of Chenzhou Municipal Government Party Group and deputy departmental cadres were present at the conference.

With the acceleration of urbanization in China, problems like building green low-carbon livable city, improving green construction and promoting building energy efficiency have to be solved firstly. This forum was instructed and supported by Technology Committee of State Housing and Urban & Rural Construction Ministry and China Real Estate Research Association. It was hosted by China Institute of Architectural Design and China Building Energy Saving Alliance.

From the beginning of 2012, the State Council and relevant ministries successively promulgated “energy saving of twelfth five-year plan” and other important regular files to encourage the improvement of green construction and building energy saving industries. Some experts mentioned that building a low-carbon livable city, creating a green habitation environment and promoting the energy saving and green construction would be the important contents of the transformation of economy development after the 18th National Congress of CPC while the green building industry would get more development opportunities.

In the forum, vice president of China Real Estate Research Association- Tong Yuezhong delivered a report entitled “common problems on current urban and rural planning and construction”; General planner of Urban & Rural Planning Institute of China Architectural Design Institute- Gao Chao introduced “improvement trend of China new urbanization after 18th National Congress of CPC”; Dean of Beijing New Material Construction Design Institute- Xue Kongkuan explained “ecological inhabitation and urban & rural construction”; and Director of Urban & Small Town Revolution and Development Center of NRDC- Fan Yi presented a report on “development trend and problems for China urbanization revolution”.

In the theme dialogue session of “regional development and green inhabitation”, all the attendants shared their opinions on the relation between regional development and green inhabitation by discussing some specified regional construction projects. Concerning Yizhang County’s reconstruction project of Nanjing east road, the experts remarked it would help to upgrade the county image of Yizhang for its totally new designing concept.
