Mangshan Yao Drum Dance is a traditional competitive folk activity of the Yao people in the Mangshan Mountain area, Yizhang County. The drum dance is generally held in the first lunar month every year. The drums, shaped like buckets, are made of fir trees or Chinese parasol trees, with one side covered with cow’s belly skin, making a clear and shocking sound. The activity integrates entertainment, competition, and folk songs, which is deeply loved by the people.
