Dabujiang quilting embroidery is a typical faction of Xiangnan quilting art with a long history and wide influence. It especially has unique technique and composition with rich regional characteristics and widely spread in Yongxing, Zixing, Anren, Guidong, Rucheng and other rural areas more than 30 years ago. But later, with the reform and opening up and people's ideological changes, this ancient art gradually faded out of people's lives and even endangered.
The inheritors of Dabujiang quilting art He Juan loved her grandmother's quilting embroidery in her childhood and came back to hometown after working outside for a few years. He Juan not only learned the basic techniques of quilting embroidery with her grandmother, but joined more colorful elements and images of modern life to show the ideas and design in her works. In 2008, she began to develop, sort and create the quilting embroidery products and established the Juanjuan Quilts Art Workshop in 2011, which attracted the attention of the cultural media of Hunan University. Dabujiang quilting embroidery was initially listed as the cultural industry research and development project of Hunan University.
