Currently, an experts’ review meeting was held out by Hunan Water Conservancy Department. Dongjiang lake’s application of national water park was approved at the meeting and would be submitted to the State Water Conservancy Ministry for final approval.

Dongjiang lake is a large scale (I class) reservoir with the comprehensive benefits and multiple functions of flood control, electricity generation, water supply, travel, shipping, and etc. The reservoir’s normal water level, storage capacity and water areas are 285meters, 8.12billion cubic meters and 160square kilometers. It is“regulator”for the flood and drought control and “diluter” for water pollution in the downstream of Xiangjiang river. Dongjiang lake is also with unique tourism resources that its natural and humanities landscapes enhances its beauty greatly. Dongjiang lake water park is based on Dongjiang reservoir. The total areas of the landscape are 312.75square kilometers, including 165.13 square kilometers. In recent years, Zixing city enhanced the upgrading and reconstruction work of Dongjiang lake landscape, which helped to perfect its tourism infrastructures and upgraded its service level. More and more domestic and foreign visitors are attracted there. Dongjiang lake was approved as national 4A landscape, national scenic spot and national wetland park.
