Li Jun, the member of China Industrial Design Association, member of China Industrial Exhibition Design Association, Vice President of China's Professional Calligraphers Association, initiator of Chinese characters park, the advocate of Chinese character museum, the first person to work on wax calligraphy, the first person to integrate phonetic annotation of Chinese characters with seal cutting and calligraphy, and the creator of new sea cutting method-cleaver method. Two landscape paintings about small hydropower station which were created by Li Jun in 1983 were collected by two Japanese hydropower experts of UN. Li Jun was entrusted to draw chart for rural safe electricity utilization by the State Hydroelectric Department in 2006. He worked out “calligraphy for greeting Beijing Olympics” in 2008, which was about 800meters long and 80cms wide. It was divided into 75 groups, each of which was consisted with 8 calligraphies. Over 30,000 Chinese characters were covered into the work. Different traditional Chinese history elements as the Great Wall, four great inventions inscriptions on bones or tortoise shells of the Shang Dynasty, Jin inscriptions, and etc. were shown on the work. All of those highly explored the connotation and cultural veins of Chinese tradition. It well met Director Zhang Yimou’s idea of opening ceremony of Beijing Olympics. In March, 2010, in order to great Shanghai Expo, he created the impression ink calligraphy. All works were focused on the cultural features of the exhibitors, international organizations and some regions and covered different languages into them. The works were selected to be exhibited in Chinese pavilion in Shanghai Expo. In order to great Guangzhou Asia Games, Li Jun visited the World’s Non-ferrous Metals Museum and Chenzhou city- the non-ferrous metal city of China, and chose the mineral powder of non-ferrous metals as one of the materials of his calligraphy work, which reached a unique calligraphic reliefs artistic effect. Till then, the thinking set about reliefs can only be shown on hard items not paper was broken. It helped to create a new method for the calligraphy and popularize the Chinese character culture of China Non-ferrous Metals Museum to the world. If we want to improve calligraphy to be popular internationally and to be with an eternal life, we should improve it to be the culture and spirit of an era and the spirit of a nation.
