The first Chenzhou Games which is with the theme of “splendid games, passionate dream” was opened in Chenzhou Sports Center on September 15, 2015. About 800 athletes from 66 teams of 11 counties and districts, departments and enterprises of Chenzhou city entered into the center along with the passionate tune of “Sportsmen March”. Yi Pengfei- Secretary of Chenzhou Municipal Party Committee announced the opening of the first Chenzhou Games.

The first Chenzhou Games which was the first municipal level comprehensive sports event was hosted by Chenzhou Government and undertaken by Chenzhou Media Group and would be held in Chenzhou city every four years in future. Qu Hai- Deputy Secretary of Chenzhou Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Chenzhou City delivered a speech on the opening ceremony. He stated that Chenzhou city’s sports cause and sports industry were being improved greatly after confirming the significant decision of the establishment of “sports city” from 2012. People took more active passions to join in the national fitness program, the sports facilities of urban and rural areas were kept being perfected and the integration of sports and cultural tourism were being improved vigorously.

Qu Hai hoped all the athletes would promote the spirit of “friendship first, competition second” and follow the rules to fight fairly with each other; hoped all the judges promote the justice and practical spirit to handle fair judgment and ensure all matches to be carried out fluently.

5026 people and 1000 judges would attend the games. 2000 athletes and 600 judges are for the primary and secondary school students group, while the rest is for adult group. The athletes would fight against each other on over 20 items as basketball, football, balloon volleyball, tennis, ping-pong ball, badminton, swimming, Wushu, cycling, Chinese chess, Go, bridge, and etc.

Xiong Ni- Deputy Director of Hunan Sports Bureau, some municipal leaders of Chenzhou city, and representatives of some teams and citizens attended the ceremony.
