Anren County has shown an annual increase of 15,000 mu (1,000 hectares) in promoting mechanized seedling throwing, with an average annual operation volume of over 700 mu (about 46.67 hectares) per machine, ranking first in the country.

 

In recent years, the use of advanced agricultural machinery and equipment to improve agricultural production conditions and achieve agricultural mechanization has become an important symbol of agricultural modernization. 

 

As a typical agricultural county, Anren County has achieved a mechanization rate of over 99% in machine farming and harvesting. The orderly transplanting technology of rice mechanization is of great significance in promoting the mechanization, specialization, and scale of rice planting, reducing cost and improving efficiency. 

 

According to statistics, the county can save about 800 yuan per hectare in costs such as nutritious soil, seeds, labor, and time. At the same time, the rice regreening period can be shortened by 5 to 7 days, the yield can be increased by 25 to 50 kilograms per mu (about 0.067 hectares), and the operating efficiency can be improved by about 20%. The ability of rice to resist low temperature damage in autumn has been significantly enhanced. 

 

The orderly rice seedling throwing machine has been promoted in five major rice producing regions in China, including Hunan, Jiangxi, Jilin, Anhui, and Guangxi, with a total sales volume of 3,668 units and 2,632 units sold in Hunan. 

 

Anren County has promoted the application of seedling throwing machines since 2020, and through several years of exploration and application, the county has purchased a total of 102 seedling throwing machines, which are applied in the fields of 72,900 mu (4,860 hectares), with an annual increase of 15,000 mu (1,000 hectares). A single machine serves over 700-mu (about 46.67 hectares) land on average annually. All the indicators lead the country.

 

In the process of promoting seedling throwing machines, Anren County has established effective contact between seedling throwing users and manufacturers to enable manufacturers such as Zoomlion to timely improve the problems in the use of seedling throwing machines. 

 

Meanwhile, after several years of comparison, the yield benefits of mechanized seedling throwing per mu (about 0.067 hectares) are 50 to 100 yuan higher than those of mechanized seedling transplanting. 

 

The county has also strengthened the cultivation of talent and entities through technical training in professional high schools, the mentoring of experienced machine operators, and the introduction and cultivation of high-level technical talents. It has established four comprehensive agricultural machinery service centers and cultivated 27 large service entities, achieving full coverage of mechanized seedling throwing in the county. 

 

In addition, Anren County has built at least two demonstration bases for mechanized seedling throwing with an area of over 500 mu (about 33.33 hectares) in each town, created benchmark cooperatives for mechanized seedling throwing, and summarized valuable experiences on collaborative operation, on-site seedling cultivation, and water and fertilizer control, which help solve problems such as much labor, high transportation costs, and difficult control of seedling age for mechanized seedling throwing.

 

“In order to improve mechanization level in rice planting, Anren County has also made efforts to improve the policy environment, provide technical support for mechanized seedling throwing, promote mechanized rice seedling transplanting and throwing technology, and create a replicable and promotable model, in a bid to enhance the comprehensive agricultural production capacity and promote the modernization of agriculture,” said Hou Zhichao, director of Anren County Agricultural Machinery Affairs Center.

 

At present, the advantages of orderly rice seedling throwing machines in Anren County are becoming increasingly prominent in saving nutritious soil, seeds, labor and time. The rice fields farmed by seedling throwing machines have basically achieved an average yield increase of 5% to 10%, with more than 750 kilograms of nutritious soil saved per hectare and more than 300 yuan reduced in labor costs.
