Along with the rising of temperature, many citizens would exclaim how comfortable if we can walk under the tree shade on streets. But according to the reporters investigation more years would be cost to improve Chenzhou’s roads with tree shades.

What is the difference between the street with and without tree shades? In order to find the exact answer, reporters measured the temperatures on the urban roads at 14:00 to 16:00 recently and concluded the results that 5℃ lower under tree shades.

Under direct sunshine: 35℃~45℃

Under tree shades: 32℃~39℃

Reporters walked on the roads from Wuling Square to Yanquan road at around 14:00, and the thermometer showed was 39.5℃ high. Though some trees planted have been planted there, they were too small to form the thick tree shades on the street.

People walked through the roads rapidly under such high temperature. But for some vendors, they had to operate their businesses, so just tried to find some places with some tree shade to make things better. As shown from the thermometer, it was about 36℃ under thicker tree shades.

Reporters arrived at Minsheng road at around 15:00. It was surprised to find the thermometer indicated to 45℃. But when stood under a Chinese honeylocust fruit tree, the temperature decreased to 39℃ after 10 minutes.

The sunshine became weaker at 16:00 and temperature was about 38℃ Renmin road west. Because there were with better greening condition with thick tree shades, it was much better to walk on this street.

Thick tree shade roads were seldom available in Chenzhou city

According to data collected by Chenzhou road greening office, 0.8 million square meters main roads greening have been finished till the end of 2012, 0.75 million square meters among which were greening belts with more than 70000 trees on roads. In 2013, the greening work would be expanded to 0.9 million square meters.

Though the greening areas were kept increasing in recent years. The thick tree shade roads were seldom available in Chenzhou city.

What caused the reason for this situation with seldom thick tree shades roads after so hard working on greening work in recent years in Chenzhou city? When reporters asked the principal of the greening office- Huang Jin, he explained that long term maintenance required for the newly planting tree growing up with thick tree shades.

It was introduced by Huang that more oriental planes would be planted in future greening plan to accelerate the speed to grow up with thick tree shades. Compared with camphor tree, goldenrain tree, magnolia gradiflora, and etc. which were planted in earlier years, oriental plane would grow up faster to be with thick tree shades.

Citizens expressed their hope to be with thicker tree shade roads in future to upgrade the living condition under such hot summer season.
