A national expert group led by Chen Zhenzhen- Inspector of Urban-rural Division of Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development visited Chenzhou city on August 21, 2013. Yi Jihong- Member of Party Group of Hunan Provincial Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and Chief Engineer accompanied with the expert group to guide Chenzhou city’s establishment work of national garden city.
Chenzhou city launched the establishment work national garden city in April, 2009. Till now, more than 17 billion yuan investment has been placed on the ecological projects. According to the registered information confirmed by Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, till the end of 2011, urban area’s greening coverage area, greening land areas and park green land areas were with 2555 hectares, 2415 hectares and 522 hectares respectively, which enabled the rate of greening coverage area and greening land areas to be 38.31% and 36.21%, and urban per capita park greening land to be 9.53 square meters. All the three indexes mentioned above were higher than the standard of national garden city.
The expert group visited some parks, gardens, courtyards, roads and banks before the symposium. The group highly affirmed the establishment work handled by Chenzhou Municipal Party Committee and Chenzhou Government. Though suffered with the ice disaster in 2008 and the severe drought this year, great achievements were still reached in Chenzhou city with its local features.
The group members presented their comments and suggestions to help Chenzhou city to take further promotion of the establishment work as well.
Qu Hai- Deputy Secretary of Chenzhou Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Chenzhou city highly appreciated the group members’ detailed suggestions on further development of Chenzhou city’s establishment work of national garden city. He stated that all the comments and suggestions would be applied to upgrade the future work to establish national garden city successfully.
