It was reported that the television and telephone conference for Hunan provincial flood control and drought relief & promotion of water conservancy construction was held on Oct. 11, 2013. It was stated on the conference that 18 billion yuan would be placed to the water conservancy construction in this winter and next spring and the drinking water problems concerned for the drought region would be solved preferentially. Xu Shousheng- Secretary of Hunan Provincial Party Committee and Director of Hunan Provincial People’s Congress attended the conference and delivered an important speech there. Du Jiahao- Deputy Secretary of Hunan Provincial Party Committee and Governor of Hunan Province hosted the conference. Xiang Lili- Secretary of Chenzhou Municipal Party Committee, Liu Hesheng- Deputy Secretary of Chenzhou Municipal Party Committee and Lei Xiaoda- Deputy Mayor of Chenzhou city were present at the section of Chenzhou city.

Followed with the requirements listed on the conference, in this winter and next spring, 67300 projects damaged by flood would be recovered, 30,000kms channels would be cleared, 1906kms waterways would be dredged, 813 reservoirs would be reinforced and 81 square meters water and soil erosion areas would be retreated. Due to the drought of this year, some places of Chenzhou city was suffered with problems of lacking of drinking water. As stated on the conference, concerning for the rural drinking water safety projects, privilege work would be handled out to solve the drinking water problems of the drought regions and all rural drinking water insecurity projects would be solved before 2015; concerning for the key projects construction, 8 billion yuan funds has been deployed to Hunan province by the State on 26 categories of projects which were required to be fulfilled before next March. Some projects of Chenzhou city were covered into the list.
