On June 4, the author learned from Zixing City that the city set up the water quality automatic monitoring stations in the Toushan, Yangxing and other places of Dongjiang Lake this year to conduct the 24 hours of uninterrupted automatic monitoring for the water quality of first class drinking water source protection zone, entry rivers and other key areas in Dongjiang Lake; with conventional manual monitoring, 160 square kilometers of the Dongjiang Lake have achieved full coverage of water quality monitoring.

It was reported that the Dongjiang River water quality automatic monitoring stations were invested 5 million yuan and were put into trial operation in January this year. The water sample enters the grit box at the monitoring station for precipitation through two water pumps set in the Dongjiang Lake by monitoring station. After 20 minutes, the water enters the sample cup and is then used for instrument testing. The water quality monitoring instrument can automatically analyze 16 water sample indexes such as ammonia nitrogen, arsenic, lead, mercury, permanganate, etc. in 30 minutes and generates a set of real-time data that reflect the water quality of the Dongjiang Lake every 4 hours.

Zixing City uses the water quality automatic monitoring stations to achieve remote monitoring of water quality and a timely warning can be made in case of an abnormality to greatly improve the environment regulatory capacity and risk early warning capacity of Dongjiang Lake. In addition to automatic monitoring of water quality, environmental protection staff in Zixing City will regularly carry out manual monitoring to take control of the current situation and change trend of Dongjiang Lake water environment quality.
