Recently, China Urban Economic Society of Small and Medium Cities Development Committee other units released the research achievements on the China small and medium-sized city scientific development index in 2017, and the list of "2017 national comprehensive strength 1000 strong town", Liufeng Town Guiyang County included.

Liufeng Town, located in the northwest of Guiyang County and at the junction of Chenzhou, Hengyang and Yongzhou City, is the transport hub of Guiyang County, which was known as the "Famous market in southern Hunan" and "Famous E-commerce town". The town covers an area of 171.81 square kilometers, jurisdiction of 39 administrative villages, 1 neighborhood communities, a total of 71.6 thousand people, which is the "National civilized town", "National key town", "Hunan civilized town", "Characteristic town of small town construction in Hunan Province", "Two models demonstration advanced unit in Hunan Province" and "Demonstration town of small town construction in Chenzhou", listed as the key county central city by Guiyang County Party Committee and government.

The town is dominated by agriculture, the main planting of flue-cured tobacco, rice and red dates, etc. Cuijiang River flows 11 kilometers from South to North, the trunk canal of Liantang Reservoir across13 kilometers, Xi'an Reservoir commanding. The good water conditions save the rice fields from drought and flood with high multiple cropping indexes. The Liufeng dates with small pits and rich fresh are crisp, sweet and delicious, annual production of 200 tons, famous inside and outside the county; the flue-cured tobacco has high yield and good quality, and can be compared with the tobacco of Zhangshi Town in the county; the mineral resources are rich, including the coal, manganese, dolomite, limestone and so on.

It was understood that considering the data availability and comparability, the research group chooses three indicators of Gross Domestic Product GDP, per capita disposable income of urban and rural residents, and the public finance income to compare in the selection of the national comprehensive strength 1000 strong town.
