Chen Fei, vice governor of Hunan Province, led a team to Chenzhou City to investigate the construction of the National Sustainable Development Agenda Innovation Demonstration Zone between May 16 and 17. Chen Fei stressed that we should continue to deepen our understanding of the new development concept, implement it in a comprehensive way, take the construction of the zone as an important step for Chenzhou’s development, and provide Chenzhou’s experience for the province and even the whole country.
During his visit, Chen and his team came to Linwu, Jiahe, Guiyang counties and Suxian District to investigate the Ganxi River environmental protection management project, the water and soil pollution management project of Taojia River watershed (Linwu section and Jiahe section), and the heavy metal pollution management and ecological restoration and utilization project in the east gate area of Wangxianling. They also visited Hunan Dingxin Electric Technology Co., Ltd., Hunan Churong Furniture Technology Co., Ltd., Chenzhou base of Southern Graphite Research Institute (Hunan) Co., Ltd., and Chenzhou Sustainable Development Innovation Center.
In the subsequent symposium, Chen Fei listened to the report on the construction of the National Sustainable Development Agenda Innovation Demonstration Zone. Chen said that Chenzhou should take the lead in implementing new development concept and “three highlands and four missions” strategy. It’s important to seize the opportunity in carbon peak and carbon neutrality, and take measures to realize the high-quality and sustainable development of Chenzhou.
Chenzhou mayor Liu Zhiren said that next, Chenzhou will implement the comprehensive protection and utilization of water sources, the treatment of heavy metal pollution control in watersheds, the comprehensive treatment of garbage classification, urban sewage and black and odorous water, the construction of a national water-saving city, the pilot action of “carbon peak and carbon neutralization”, and the green development of industries and the extension of industrial chains.
