On the afternoon of January 13, the First Session of the 13th CPPCC Hunan Provincial Committee was grandly convened at the People's Hall of Hunan Province. Shouldering the ardent trust of all the Hunan people, members from all walks of life and all fronts provincewide gathered in Changsha to actively perform their duties of political consultation, democratic supervision, and participation in political discussions.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Mao Wanchun, secretary of the Party Leadership Group of the CPPCC Hunan Provincial Committee. There should be 743 members at the meeting, and there were 703 members present. The number of attendants constitutes the quorum.
The agenda of the opening ceremony included:
- Li Weiwei, chairwoman of the 12th CPPCC Hunan Provincial Committee, made a report on the work of the Standing Committee of the 12th CPPCC Hunan Provincial Committee;
- Lai Mingyong, vice chairman of the 12th CPPCC Hunan Provincial Committee, made a report on the work of the proposals delivered by the Standing Committee of the 12th CPPCC Hunan Provincial Committee in the past five years;
- Attendees listened to the speeches made by CPPCC Hunan Provincial Committee members; and,
- Zhang Qingwei, secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and director of the Standing Committee of the Hunan Provincial People's Congress, delivered a speech.
