Recently, a batch of furniture fittings and dining chair accessories worth 400,000 yuan at the Hunan (Guangdong) Home Intelligent Manufacturing Industrial Park in Guiyang County were transported to the Nansha New Port in Guangdong Province, and then exported to Algeria by sea.
According to customs statistics, the total import and export volume of Chenzhou City to Africa reached 4.69 billion yuan in the first quarter, a year-on-year increase of 398.8%, accounting for 34.5% of the total trade volume with Africa in Hunan, ranking first in the province.
This year, relying on the characteristic industries such as non-ferrous metals, Chenzhou has carried out differentiated cooperation with Africa, with African countries such as South Africa, Nigeria, and Ghana becoming major trading partners.
Among them, the import and export volume to South Africa amounted to 4.09 billion yuan, an increase of 14.9 times, and that to Nigeria reached 250 million yuan, up 61.8%.
The main imported products are metal ores and mineral sands, while the exports are textiles, clothing, plastic products, etc.
Private enterprises are the main force in foreign trade, accounting for 80.0% of the total foreign trade value in Chenzhou.
In order to strengthen trade with Africa, Chenzhou Customs has taken action to explain relevant import and export policies to enterprises, and guide them to participate in the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo. Besides, it supports the introduction of large rail-sea intermodal transport operators to promote their full process business of importing mineral products by sea and rail, in a bid to advance the high-quality development of multimodal transportation.
In the first quarter, Chenzhou had trade relations with 146 countries and regions, with a total import and export value of 14.97 billion yuan, an increase of 19.1% compared to the same period last year, ranking second in Hunan. Among them, the import value hit 8.18 billion yuan, surging 110.0%, with the growth rate 105.1 percentage points higher than the national average.
