It is revealed from the Chenzhou Municipal Cultural Relics Bureau that Ancient Architectural Complex of Mugen Bridge in Dongjiang Town, Zixing County-level City was included on the list of the ninth batch of cultural relics units under provincial-level protection on April 18.

Distributed in north-south direction, Ancient Architectural Complex of Mugen Bridge mainly consists of two-storey shops with pivoting front doors. These ancient sloping-roof shops, featured by blue bricks and black tiles, stand along a bluestone street with a width of about 2 meters and a length of around 500 meters. Several elongated ancient architectural groups are formulated by piling against the same wall and lapping rafters according to upper, middle and down street.

It is learned that the ancient street of Mugen Bridge, established pretty earlier than the Qing Dynasty (1636A.D.-1911A.D.), reaches its peak in the 1950s and 1960s. As it is located in the ancient East River wharf, lodges, teahouses and wine shops have appeared since Han (202B.C.-220A.D.) and Jin dynasties (26 A.D.-420A.D.), making it convenient for businessmen in Xingning, Guidong and Rucheng and freight transit.
