Chenzhou Mayor Xiang Lili revealed on May 3 that the train-water transport project is under construction and is expected to be opened at the end of this year. The project is expected to significantly reduce enterprises' time and logistics costs by combining exits of customs and railway.
Chenzhou, the southern gate of Hunan Province, next to Guangdong Province and near HK and Macao, is developing open economy, bringing enormous convenience to import and export enterprises.
With the completion of the PhaseⅠproject, it will achieve a handling capacity of 3,000,000 tons. The international containers can pass through the railway station and directly reach ports (e.g. Yantian Port in Shenzhen and Huangpu Port in Guangzhou) and then go on board. In this sense, Chenzhou will open to the world veritably as “a port without water”.
