The Hunan Provincial working conference on pilot projects of constructing new countryside in cities, townships and villages, jointly hosted by the Rural Work Department of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the Rural Work Office of the Hunan Provincial Government, was convened in Chenzhou during May 23 and 24.
At the conference, discussions were held on the new approaches and models for such a project across the province under new circumstances. Moreover the project was launched in an extraordinary fashion.
The project, initiated by the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the Hunan Provincial People's Government, aims to facilitate interaction, co-construction as well as benefit-sharing between urban and rural areas. Another key goal is to speed up the construction of new countryside in one hundred cities, one thousand townships and ten thousand villages. The villages have been chosen to lead in boosting the development of the project and supporting the reform of urban-rural integration.
The project is scheduled to be carried out in three phases, namely, pilot launching, breakthroughs in key areas and comprehensive implementation. It is expected to further optimize urban and rural layout, strengthen the functioning of cities and towns, and promote agricultural modernization in the coming five years. Thus, the living standards of both urban and rural residents will be improved and the project will continue to yield fruitful results throughout the province with time.
