Organized by the Australian Council for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification of China (ACPPRC), the event "Eyes on China-Hunan" was launched in Yongxing People's Hospital, Chenzhou City, on the afternoon of September 18, 2011.
Li Weiwei, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, and William Chiu, president of ACPPRC, attended the launching ceremony.
This event is a large-scale public benefit campaign initiated by ACPPRC. Australian and Chinese experts and medical staffs join hands to provide free treatment for patients with eye disease in China's remote and poverty-stricken areas. Accordingly, free operation will be done to Chenzhou's 400 cataract patients and medical equipment will be presented to some hospitals.
Li extended her gratitude to ACPPRC. Mr. Chiu hoped that Australia and China will enhance friendly ties and cooperation via this event.
