The year of 2012 is the ninth year of “Education-Aid” activity in Chenzhou city. In order to help the poverty students realize their dreams of high education, Chenzhou Education Foundation subsidized 0.4 million yuan on Guidong County which used to be an old revolutionary area.

Since 2005, 93536 persons have benefited from this “Education-Aid” activity with 59.25 million yuan. The foundation will fund 10 needy teachers with 5000 yuan per person, 180 poverty stricken students with different funds for different grades during this trip to Guidong County. Furthermore, 0.2 million yuan will be spent on the improvement of Jindong combination primary school’s education condition.

Hu Zuxiong who will go to university in this September, is one of the students benefiting from this fund. The girl and her younger brother have lived with her 78 years’ old grandmother after her father died in 2004. Though all their living and tuition fees are borrowed from relatives, the girl still keeps optimistic for future life and states that she will study hard in the university and contribute to the society once she graduates from the college.

Jindong combination primary school, subsidized with 0.2 million, is located in Jindong village of Oujiang town and about 6 kms from Guidong downtown. It is a hope primary school set by three primary schools with 5 classes, 82 students and 6 teachers. This is the first time for the foundation to issue such big amounts on improving the school’s condition.

It is learned from the teachers that there is no dorm available in the school, so students living in Dadong village have to walk for one hour with 4.5kms from their houses to schools. Furthermore, the students have to bring the lunch with them because there is no canteen available. Moreover, due to the limitation of teachers and classrooms, students only can be recruited every two years, which greatly affects school-age children’s normal enrollment.

After learning that there maybe some potential safety hazard for the school because of the sandy soil hillside on the back of school, Chen Shezhao- chairman of Chenzhou Municipal CPPCC emphasized: “we have to spend the money on the most important points such as building the canteen and repairing the walls of schools.”

Liu Hongling - Board Director of Guidong Wenjiang Electricity Co., Ltd., donated one million yuan to Chenzhou Education Foundation in 2012. She remarked because of the poverty, she quitted the school when she was going to middle school. She did not want to see the same situation occurring to more children. Till now, Liu has donated more than 8 million yuan on social charities, which helps to support over 300 students.

Director-general of Chenzhou Education Foundation – Jiang Taosheng greatly affirmed the contribution of social loving heart people on supporting the poor students, and he encouraged more individuals and units to work together on this “Education-Aid” project, helping the children grow up healthily.
